Moana Halloween Costumes

For some reason I decided that it would be cheaper for me to make Jakob's Maui shirt than for me to buy it. I suppose in the end it was cheaper, but oh my lanta, it was SO time consuming. SUPER fun though!!!

So I start drawing and I have Jakob try it on to make sure that his boobs and abs are lining up and then I realize I drew everything on the back of the shirt!!!!! I was so beyond disappointed! I mean, seriously... how dumb of me. the shirt was looking awesome though!

My templates.

Cutting out Maui's hook.

Parts and pieces for Tomatoa.

Back in the tatoo parlor. At this point we are looking at about 8 hours of work. This thing was a beast.

That's one happy crab!

And finishing the Shiny shell!

Halloween Night! This was the only time that we got all dressed up as a family. I was pretty excited about these costumes.

E was a super cute Moana.

 Moana and Maui.

Duke was just darling at Tomatoa. He was super into those crab claws!

This year I went for close enough, but not exact and I really enjoyed it. The shell was a pillow covered in shiny fabric and then I spray painted some shells, beads and coins in gold. I was pretty happy with it.

 Love him!!

Daddy's shirt was a lot of work but the end product was awesome!! His hook was cardboard, wrapped in tape and spray painted. His skirt was felt leaves and then I stitched on some leaves.  Here's a few too many photos.

I ended up having a few extra spaces so I made up a tattoo of my own. I thought it turned out pretty cute.

My dress was purchased a green dress at savers and stitched some leaves on it. Super easy.

I sprayed my hair green, and used a garland for my crown.

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween Block Set

Not only do I tend to decide to rock out random crafts on a whim, so does my friend Gretchen. We are total enablers. So one afternoon she came by with these little sheets printed up and off we went to get some wood to make these little guys. They were super simple and even though they are not perfect I still love them.

Best part is mixing and matching all of the costumes. You can go will all one design or you can have Frankenstein head on a vampires body with bumble bee legs. E really likes them and I can't wait to make our Christmas set!

Maleficent Wreath

Once Upon a time I was searching Pinterest and I stumbled upon this wreath.  I sent a picture to my friend Dallas and I knew we just had to make one. A few years passed and then I got a package in the mail. It was from Dallas and it was full of goodies to make my very own wreath!!! May I just say once again... I have the MOST INCREDIBLE friends in the world!!! Naturally my entire world stopped so I could get to work on her right away!

I went and picked up a few things and set straight to work.

Unlike my burlap wreath I had to quite literally sew this wreath together. I wanted it to last and doing the twist knot method was simply not working. I used a big 12" wreath hoop for the outside and only did the first two rings with the black mesh sewing it in with the wire as I went. I then filled in the middle and inside ring with the feather boa. I then attached a smaller hoop to the inside and did another layer of the black mesh. and finally a simple layer of the blue ribbon.

I made the horns and collar out of foam and wired it all in. I then added in the ornaments and the crow. I seriously couldn't love it any more!!!

Thank you so much Dallas! I wish we were closer so we could have crafted them together! Miss you guys!

Kids Activites

This was our final week for Halloween crafts and I am a bit sad that it is over. We have had so much fun making little creations throughout the month.

Monday:
This time I let E check out Pinterest to see what she wanted to create. She was dead set on making rock monsters. Unfortunately, I sold all of my river rocks before the move (I mean really it's just one of those things that I wish I had held onto.) Since there aren't any beautifully round rocks here we went on a hunt to see what we could find. There is a vacant lot a few houses down from us and we brought home a few rocks. I think one of them was just a clump of dirt but E was excited!

I love watching her paint. She has such a cute concentration expression and she is always very careful.

Our rocks. This was E favorite. :)

I swear this is a clump of dirt. :)

Friday: Happy Halloween!!
How could we not do a festive craft on Halloween. E decided to go with witches. At first she just wanted to watch so I made the purple witch.

Then she decided that she wanted one too. She picked out all of the colors. I especially love the pink boots. and then she said that I could paint and she would glue.

I can't believe that Halloween has come and gone. I am excited to post pictures pictures of E's new costume.
