My Little Pony / Unicorn Party

It's party time and we are so excited!!

This year E wanted to do a My Little Pony/ Unicorn Party. I was thinking more along the lines of pastels and glitter but E wanted bright vibrant colors and it turned out great. This party was especially fun because E planned the whole thing. It was fun letting her make choices. She made up a Pinterest board and she would pin things and say "Mom, I like this asssspect, but not this part." When did she grow up? She was so into planning this thing and it was a lot of fun!

We had some balloons up the path to our house. If I was going to skip any part of the decorations, it would have been the helium balloons. Not enough bang for the buck.

E decorated the mantel. I love all of her ponies on display.

Best part of the decor hands down was the balloon arch. It was super easy to do. I blew up 8 balloons in each color and using a need and string threaded them together. Then we tied a few strings to the main string and made it into an arch and simply taped it to the wall. So easy!

E loved it as well! Inspiration here.

The pinata. Click here for a quick tutorial.I got the idea for this here.

Craft table set up and ready to go.

 Last minute food prep.

Creating our own Ponies. Inspiration here.

And making pony necklaces.

My favorite photo of the whole day!

Such pretty ponies!

Pictures just don't do these rainbow jello's justice. They were so beautiful!

Streamer wall turned out great! I have made many a streamer wall in my time and they always give a great punch!

Time for face paint.

And magic!
E was not excited about breaking the pinata. She said it was her least favorite part. She wanted to keep it forever.

Still swooning over this cake! For the creative process click here.

And that's a wrap! It was a great birthday and the girls had a wonderful time! Happy birthday Peanut!!! You are so loved!!!!

My Little Pony Party Prep

It's that time again! Time to crack out some decorations. First up the pinata! I've done several pinata tutorials in the past so here is the quick and dirty version.

I thought this would go faster than it did but this pony was time consuming!

Time to get your hair done!

Rap the legs, add some accessories and a horn and voila! One Pony Pinata.

As one of the activities we made necklaces. I had to drill holes in the heads of the ponies but to do that I had to use Duke's little toy vice. It was rather entertaining.

I made up some flower crowns. I had enough supplies so we made up a crown for Piper too. Piper's birthday is two days after E's and they were having a unicorn party as well!

Rocking out our first balloon arch. Mom had been slaving all day and needed a rest. She is the bestest! It's starting to look good!

DIY Easter Baskets

I have been wanting to make the kids collapsible Easter baskets for awhile now. The big ones while beautiful are a pain to store every year, so I headed to Pinterest for some pinspiration. I found this little bag and I was super excited about it.  It even had a free tutorial. I decided to forgo her instructions and just make it up as I went with her original photo as my inspiration.

I knew that I wanted them lined and I also wanted them to coordinate. Thankfully I had all the the supplies accept for the pink gingham on hand. So I began to sew. I didn't want to take credit for this project and create my own tutorial since the original link had free tutorial, but I did make a few changes such as the happier face, embroidered names on the back of each bag and adding a little bunny tail to Leif's bag. I was planning on adding pom poms to all of them for tails, but then I realized they would get squished when I packed them away. So I appliqued on a tail onto Leif's and I just love it!

The face was a bit trial and error as were the length of the ears.

I am totally in love with the gingham!

I really wanted to have the kids names on the bags. I just makes everything seem so personal, but I didn't want it to be loud and in your face. I think we found he perfect balance with the subtle name hand embroidered on the back.

I did a more masculine font for the boys.

So happy with how they turned out and the kids really enjoyed using them at their egg hunt! After 2 years I can finally check another project off of my list!

Peppa Pig Party

It's time to party!!! I started working on this party about a month ago. Peppa was a really easy character but I found it a bit difficult to really bring the theme to the party.  So I decided to go with simple touches here and there and I think it turned out well.

I made these little foam characters inspired by this link. They were insanely time consuming (about an hour and a half per pig) but I really loved how they turned out!

These little guys sat at the front entry way table with the kids piggy ears and crafts.

I saw these adorable pig ears on Etsy and I knew I could make them. They were super quick to stitch together and would have been even faster if I would have glued them. The kids really enjoyed them.

I ordered these little piggy banks on Amazon here. They were a huge hit, but more on that later!

To bring color to the room, I made some tissue pom poms and reused a few from previous parties. The little Peppa and George characters  are from Party City. They were cute but I wish they were a bit bigger.

In the kitchen we had more pom poms over the table and a grass table cloth which I loved!!

The cake! I am so in love with it! For a more detailed look at the cake click here.

For the food we had Piggy rolls, which were cute. Mom tried so hard to make them like what we saw on Pinterest, but they just weren't cooperating. I think they ended up looking just fine!

 Jello for our Duck Pond.

Muddy Puddles, Curly Pig Tails (Curly fries), and Mr. Potato Fries.

Grampa Pig fruit and Veggies, and George's Dinosaurs.

When the kids first arrived, we started out with crafts. They really got into decorating their piggies. I had sharpie markers for them to color on the piggies and then I provided gems to add some sparkle.

They were so focused!

Such beautiful Masterpieces!!

Then I painted their faces while they got some food.

Delicious!

Then we did some dancing and jumping in Muddy Puddles!

I really need to work on my facial expressions! Of course we did magic cupcake, but instead of cupcakes we made cookies this time. The kids always enjoy the magic.

Tada!!

Then it was Pinata time! I loved how Peppa turned out! She was just darling. (For the creative process click here.)

Camryn's face was hilarious!

E has really gotten into Pinata's over the years. Way to go birthday girl!!

Then we made some balloons!

Group Shot!

Our sweet little piggies!

Time for cake!

Happy Birthday my sweet girl! We are so blessed to call you ours and you bring so much love, laughter and joy into our home! You are so loved sweet girl!
